More then ever before, consumers are seeking information about where their food comes from, how it is grown, and by whom. Additionally, consumers are becoming aware of how interconnected human health, animal health, and environmental health are intertwined. Below are web links for several organizations that monitor food and environmental issues as well as work to educate and mobilize consumers to take action regarding these issues. Marquette Food Co-Op does not specifically endorse or support these organizations but has chosen to list them on our site because they are working to protect our food and environment. We welcome suggestions of other sites to list. The Organic Consumers Association ( OCA ) is an online and grassroots non-profit 501 ( c ) interest organization campaigning for health, justice, and sustainability. The OCA deals with crucial issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, children's health, corporate accountability, Fair Trade, environmental sustainability and other key topics. We are the only organization in the US focused exclusively on promoting the views and interests of the nation's estimated 50 million organic and socially responsible consumers.
